Metric and US liquid volume

One liter equals exactly 1,000 milliliters. The US liquid gallon equals 3.785411784 liters and contains four quarts, eight pints, or 128 US fluid ounces.

Cooking measures

This tool uses a US cup of 236.5882365 milliliters, a tablespoon of three US teaspoons, and a teaspoon of one-sixth US fluid ounce. Recipe conventions and measuring tools may round these values.

US and imperial units differ

An imperial gallon, pint, and fluid ounce are not the same sizes as their US namesakes. Choose a converter that explicitly supports imperial units when following a UK or imperial specification.

Volume-to-weight conversion depends on ingredient density and cannot be determined from volume alone. This tool converts volume only.
