Scheduling and deadlines

Business days calculator

Count working dates using an explicit start-date rule, the weekend pattern you follow, and your own holiday list.

Choose the counting convention first

“Between two dates” can mean different things. Inclusive counting considers both entered dates. Elapsed-deadline counting excludes the start and includes the end, which is common when a period begins after an event. This calculator states the selected convention in every result so the number can be checked or shared without hidden assumptions.

Weekend patterns are not universal

Saturday and Sunday is the default, but Friday–Saturday, Sunday-only, and no automatic weekend are available. A selected weekend date is excluded even when it also appears in the holiday list. The result separates weekend exclusions from entered weekday holidays so a duplicate exclusion never inflates the explanation.

Add only holidays relevant to the schedule

Public holidays vary by country, state, province, municipality, employer, exchange, and year. Paste exact dates in ISO format, such as 2026-12-25. Duplicates are removed. Holidays outside the considered interval are accepted but do not affect the count, making it convenient to paste a complete annual list.

Check the governing rule

Contracts, courts, banks, benefit programs, shipping carriers, and payroll systems may define a business day differently. Some shift a weekend holiday to a weekday; others use cut-off times or exclude emergency closures. Enter the observed date that actually applies and confirm material deadlines with the responsible organization.

This calculator performs calendar counting only. It does not supply an official holiday calendar or interpret legal, contractual, banking, payroll, tax, filing, or delivery rules.
