Count elapsed calendar days and convert the result to weeks.

What the date difference means

The calculator subtracts the earlier date from the later date and reports the number of 24-hour calendar intervals between them. For example, January 1 to January 2 is one day.

Inclusive versus exclusive counting

This result uses exclusive counting: it does not count both boundary dates as full days. If you need to count every named date in a period—for example, every day of a trip including arrival and departure—add one to the result.

Calendar days and business days

The tool counts all calendar days, including weekends and holidays. Business-day calculations depend on the working week and local holiday calendar, so they require a different method.

Worked boundary example

From March 28 to April 3 there are six elapsed day boundaries: March 28→29, 29→30, 30→31, March 31→April 1, April 1→2, and 2→3. A reservation that includes both the arrival and departure dates names seven calendar dates, but a six-night stay normally uses the six elapsed intervals. Writing down whether the task asks for elapsed days, occupied dates, nights, or deadline days prevents an off-by-one error.

Deadlines need their own rules

A legal, tax, benefit, shipping, or contract deadline may exclude the trigger date, include the final date, skip weekends or holidays, or move a due date when an office is closed. Those are policy rules, not properties of calendar subtraction. First calculate the plain date difference, then apply the controlling rule separately and record the calendar used. The calculator orders the two dates for a nonnegative difference; it does not label a result as early, late, overdue, or eligible.
