Convert calorie percentages to grams
Protein and carbohydrate each provide approximately four kilocalories per gram, while fat provides approximately nine. This calculator multiplies a chosen daily calorie target by each macro percentage and divides by those energy factors. The displayed grams are rounded estimates, so their reconstructed calorie total can differ slightly from the target.
Plans are examples, not prescriptions
The balanced, higher-protein, and lower-carb options are simple mathematical examples that always total 100%. They are not claims that one distribution is best. Custom mode accepts your own percentages when they total 100. Food quality, fiber, essential fats, amino acids, micronutrients, allergies, culture, appetite, training, and medical needs are not captured by a three-number split.
Start with an appropriate calorie target
A macro calculation does not determine how many calories a person needs. Use a measured or professionally assessed target when available. The Gypes calorie calculator can provide a rough adult maintenance scenario, but energy needs and weight response vary. Actual food labels and tracking databases also contain rounding and measurement error.
