The browser requests Gypes’ standard /cdn-cgi/trace endpoint, and Cloudflare returns the public address used for that request. It may be an IPv4 or IPv6 address. A home router, mobile carrier, corporate gateway, VPN, proxy, privacy relay, or shared carrier-grade NAT can make this different from the private address assigned inside the local network.

Country and edge codes are limited clues

The two-letter country value is Cloudflare’s coarse request classification and is not a precise physical location. The edge code identifies the Cloudflare data center that handled the request, not necessarily the user’s city. Routing, VPNs, relays, network congestion, and provider architecture can change both values between checks.

An IP address does not identify a person by itself

Public addresses can be shared, reassigned, translated, or rotated. This tool does not perform ownership lookup, reverse DNS, port scanning, device discovery, exact geolocation, or breach checking. The returned trace is displayed in the current browser; Gypes does not intentionally store a separate copy through this tool beyond standard infrastructure request handling already required to deliver the page.

Publishing an IP address can reveal a network provider or approximate region and may help correlate activity across services. Share it only when necessary. If a VPN or proxy should be active, confirm the displayed address belongs to the intended service before continuing sensitive work.
