Private browser screen capture

Online screen recorder

Choose a screen, window, or browser tab in the browser’s sharing prompt, optionally include audio, and download the recording locally.

The browser—not this page—shows the source picker. Audio availability varies by browser, operating system, and selected source. Recording is limited to one hour and remains in this tab’s memory until downloaded.

Recorder status Ready · sharing permission is requested only after Choose screen and start

You choose exactly what the browser shares

Starting opens the browser’s protected screen-sharing picker. Depending on browser and operating system, it may offer an entire display, one application window, or one browser tab. The page cannot silently bypass that picker. The browser’s sharing indicator remains the authoritative control, and ending sharing there also stops the recorder.

Audio support depends on the selected source

Shared tab or system audio is requested when selected, but some browsers expose audio only for certain tabs or operating systems. Optional microphone capture triggers a separate permission request and mixes it with shared audio when supported. Use headphones to reduce feedback, and obtain consent before recording other people, meetings, calls, presentations, or copyrighted media.

The recording stays temporary until downloaded

MediaRecorder assembles chunks in this tab and creates a temporary WebM or MP4 preview according to browser support. Gypes does not intentionally upload the capture. Reloading, closing, clearing, permission changes, low memory, device sleep, or browser failure can lose the entire recording, so stop and download promptly.

Run a short preflight before the real capture

Make a ten-second test with the same display, window, tab, microphone, and audio choices planned for the full recording. Stop it, download it, and play that downloaded file in another media player. Check that the intended source fills the frame, text is readable, the pointer is visible when needed, both audio sources can be heard, and speech does not echo or clip. A moving preview during capture does not by itself prove that the saved file is complete.

Close private windows, silence notifications, and remove passwords or personal data from the visible area before sharing begins. During a long session, watch the browser’s sharing indicator and available storage. After downloading, confirm the duration and inspect the beginning, middle, and end before closing this tab or deleting any independent backup.

This is a convenience recorder, not a guaranteed archival, legal, compliance, security, broadcast, or evidentiary system. Verify video, audio, duration, and playback before relying on the file. Never capture passwords, private messages, financial data, confidential work, or people without proper authorization.
